It’s a Nor’easter!

Nor’easters form along the East coast as warm air from over the Atlantic Ocean clashes with arctic cold to the north and west. They thrive on converging air masses—the cold polar air mass and the warmer air over the water—and are more severe in winter when the difference in temperature between these air masses is greater.

A Nor’easter gets its name from the northeasterly winds that blow in from the ocean ahead of the storm. Nor’easters can occur at any time throughout the year, but they are most common between the months of September through April and are usually accompanied by very heavy rain or snow. They can cause severe coastal flooding, erosion and hurricane force winds and blizzard conditions. Nor’easters are usually most intense during winter in the Canadian Maritime provinces as well as the Mid-Atlantic and New England United States.

It started snowing last night at 6pm and snowed and blowed all night! Yep, textbook Nor’easter here in the Maritimes. David did most of the “digging out” early this morning before he went to work and James finished later.

EARLY Spring!

February 2 is “the day” they let the groundhogs out!

Shubenacadie Sam, Nova Scotia’s most-famous groundhog weatherman, peeking out from his house at Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park in  Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, Canada.  Sam came out of his home and went for a little stroll this morning and didn’t see his shadow which means an early Spring! Yay!!!!!

Spring is on the way!!!!!!

It just keep going around and around…

I think my immune level MUST be low. I am picking up whatever is going… Last week David had a bad cold. Congestion, stuffiness and all that CRUD!! yuck!!

Saturday morning I woke up with that CRUD! Yuck! I can’t be sick again!

This has actually been a great winter for the most part. Different people you talk to say there isn’t the doom and gloom depressing feeling that is usually there in January. I agree!! It’s been great! I have been working on projects, getting them ticked off my list,  and the month of January is flying by….except for everyone you talk to has either been sick with the cold congestion stuff or the flu bug and sick to their stomach. Gee, I will take the cold over stomach flu any day but it’s not fun…I just feel miserable and achy, can’t breath, it affects my “dizzy situation” and I lose my appetite.

My sweet son made me a “tonic” last night! Ginger, Turmeric. cloves, cinnamon, lemon, honey and a bit of Chaga… who knows what else he threw in it!

Here’s hoping to a healthy week ahead. Temperature a re a bit milder this morning, I may have to open the windows to chase out the germs. lol

Have a great week friends!

Cosmetic Snow ❄

Our local weather newscaster has a new term for a beautiful light fluffy snow day! It’s called cosmetic snow.

Today I enjoyed being cozy inside and watching the birds in my yard as the light “fluffies” were falling…

Wishing you a wonderful snow day! xo ❤

FRIDAY the 13th and FRIDAY a full moon

January 13, 2017… today falls on a Friday when there is a full moon ( officially the full moon was yesterday but it is still full)! It’s a beautiful day along the South Shore of Nova Scotia. All the rain the last couple days took most of the snow away and at 8:30 this morning it’s 10 degrees!

PS. I had my windows open all afternoon. There was such a nice breeze!

And … it’s Friday!!!

What to do this weekend? Tomorrow the temperatures are expected to drop so it’s gonna be a bit colder, ok a lot colder ( we’re talking drop to -20 degrees) and we have friends visiting from New Brunswick for a couple days. Maybe we will do a little sight seeing or maybe we will just stay cozy inside!

Whatever you do, enjoy your weekend!

Quotes you live by

We have so many resources at our fingertips! You need information on a certain topic? it’s just a google away…

I love my computer for tutorials, for recipes, for documentaries, for catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, to keeping track of my “life” in pictures and thoughts, for planning trips…and adding places to my bucket list…and SO MUCH MORE!!! There’s just so MUCH at your fingertips, a plethora of wealth and information. What did we ever do before the computer and internet? What did I ever do before I had my very own computer and we had to share ONE as a family. We are so spoiled.  I have a phone, an iPad and a computer that I use very regularly depending on the situation. I feel blessed to have “information” at my fingertips”

As I am browsing and seeking information and learning…I come across little things that make me happy, things that put a smile on my face. For example today…catching up on social media, a friend posted a Bible verse for this week. I smiled because for years this was “my verse” my go to everyday as I woke up. It says so much!!

And then planning my winter getaway in March and looking ahead to summer vacation I found this …

I loved it! I love all the globes! I love to travel so any excuse will do!

And this!

And then reminders pop up…

A reminder to appreciate EACH day and opportunity… BECAUSE stuff happens!

I could go on and on with these little quotes that make me smile…

Leading up to Super Bowl time… who’s your team?

And finally another that a friend posted on social media that made me smile.

There are a few of us that are turning 50 this year. Maybe I should get the T-shirt?  You know…” BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, GOT THE T-SHIRT”  lol.

Well, I gotta get off my computer. It’s time to go put some information in to use and cook up a couple new recipes.

Have a great day my friends xo
