It’s not about the bunny

Easter isn’t about eggs or baskets or chocolate and new clothes or toys or Spring, and believe it or not…it’s not about the bunny! Although all those things are fun and are a part of what we do at Easter time, it’s part of our tradition. We enjoy it all with our families. I LOVE bunnies and LOVE decorating that way for Easter

Screen Shot 2016-03-26 at 10.03.04 PM Screen Shot 2016-03-26 at 10.02.00 PMBUT… Easter is NOT about the bunny

EASTER is all about JESUS! It’s about his RESURRECTION.

So while you enjoy today with your family and having fun and exchanging some Easter gifts and treats and having delicious meals…

…don’t forget why we celebrate Easter.

Wishing you a Wonderful Easter Weekend with your family! We had a great day. Church and Easter Brunch and David even went for a quick ride.

A Passion for People

It’s a quiet Friday this week because It’s Good Friday! My thoughts are on the cross and the Great sacrifice that was made for all mankind on this day.

On Sunday I watched FOX’s live two-hour musical “Passion”, recounting the last hours of Jesus’ life for a national TV audience “live” Β from New Orleans. It was a different modern portrayal of Easter. At least the reason we celebrate Easter. There were many mixed reviews of this program. Many felt is was no better than a Super Bowl half time show or something off American Idol.

Personally, I loved it! I thought it would reach a different audience with the message of the gospel and their need for Jesus. Even though the songs and music were not necessarily “Christian” and more pop music, they were fitting and appropriate for the scenes. Artists like Trisha Yearwood played Mary ( Jesus’ mother) Chris Daughtry played Judas ( Jesus’ betrayer), Seal was Pontius Pilate. And many other famous artists… Jesus was played byΒ Jencarlos Canela. This is my first time hearing him sing and his voice was amazing. The setting was the very same account of so many years ago but played out as if it happened today, in 2016 in New Orleans. And while the reviews might not have been great, it was done by a group that have a heart for people and wanted the message to get out to people that Jesus and the gospel and the need to have faith in him is still very relevant for Today 2016. I loved the music!

If you get chance check it out…maybe today.Β Just go over to Fox.com to stream it.

Enjoy your long weekend!

They’re back…and they’re hungry!!!

I remember last year this time. And yesterday and today was the same, only this year is much nicer for their arrival. Its Spring and the robins and male evening grosbeaks are back!! AND they’re hungry. Hungry for the little red berries on my crab apple trees in my front garden.

Fill your bellies feathered friends, those trees will soon be filled with beautiful blossoms.

My boy is back in town

Well James is back after having an adventure filled Spring Break. James loves to travel as much as I do and even though we’ll all go to Cuba for the Wedding in April, he wanted to go somewhere for his break in March. So he flew to Toronto but then where?

IMG_0238

Where to go? And without spending a lot of money.

So he is full of resources and talked to his cousin who’s husband works for Air Canada. They can fly ‘Stand by” anywhere Air Canada flies for a relatively low price. He asked if they were up to some travel for March Break and they were. So…the destination they chose. The land down under…

James and his cousin Rachel have been wanting to see Australia together for years! So James, Rachel and her husband Gerald and baby Kiet spent 4 days in Sydney, Australia. They had a great time and lots of adventures and fun getting “stand by” flights. Gerald actually had to stay an extra day in Sydney while James, Rachel and the baby flew home. James finally made it home to Bridgewater yesterday a few days later than expected. And of course with a big smile on his face.( travel does that to a person)

Here are a couple pics from his phone and one from his camera. There hasn’t been time to get all the gorgeous ones from his camera yet.

Don’t you just feel like you’re there?

And it’s soon time for the next adventure! Glad you’re home safely James!

First time to Cuba

We’re not the only ones visiting Cuba this year! This will be the first time to Cuba for David & I and seems like history is being made in that small tropical country South of the United States. In case you didn’t recognize it,Β from The Int’l Spectator theΒ Β IMAGEΒ isΒ Air Force One descending into Cuba.

United States President Obama is in Cuba for a historic three-day visit Β and talks with its communist leader.Β He is the first sitting US president to visit since the 1959 revolution, which was the start ofΒ Β decades of hostility between the two countries. President ObamaΒ will meet President Raul Castro, but not retired revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, and the pair will discuss trade and political reform. Obama first announced moves to normalize ties between the two countries in December 2014 and after much secret talks and meetings, the US reopened its embassy in Havana in August 2015, a month after Cuba reopened its embassy in Washington.

This is just the beginning of travel between the US and Cuba.

While we won’t get to Havana this time, I’m getting excited! Just 22 more days until we fly!

Longer days

I LOVE this time of year. SPRING!!!!! The days are getting longer and NOW with the time change we have more day light hours. Yippee!! What’s interesting is that my body starts to adjust to this time of year about 2 weeks before the time change. I start waking up earlier and my body seems to need less sleep.

AND, It doesn’t get dark now until after 7, almost 7:30.

Ahh….

And next weekend, it will OFFICIALLY be Spring and Bridal Shower time and then Easter and before we know it time to fly to Cuba for the wedding…eek…Ok, Ok so I’m getting ahead of myself BUT I love this time of year!

A good start to March Break!

Well, thanks to a nice little freezing rain snow storm that swept through last night, kids are getting an extra long March Break. Next week is March Break in Nova Scotia and today schools along the South Shore were canceled. An EXTRA day for their break. Good news I guess, because there really haven’t been too many “snow day” cancellations this winter.

I guess you are never too old to want to travel on Spring Break because our son James is traveling this week too! And believe it or not he’s headed for “the land down under” So jealous James!!!

Have tons of fun and take lots of pictures!

So I think on this snowy day, I’m gonna enjoy my coffee, clean my house( it should stay cleaner long with James gone haha) and get started on a few projects.

It’s Friday, and the start of March Break…ENJOY!!!!

Where are you headed to if you’re traveling?

It’s About Time!

Our Prime Minister, his wife and family are in Washington for a three day visit with the Obamas. “Mr. Trudeau GOES to Washington!!”

This visit is so long over due!! I have been following it in the news a little bit just because I think Justin & Sophie Trudeau are such a beautiful couple and they are ours! He is our Canada Prime Minister and wife. It’s kinda like Prince William & Kate…kinda. I love seeing and reading about them.

Anyway…the Trudeaus are at the White House Β for an official visit and state dinner in their honour and believe it or not, it’s the first visit of it’s kind by a Canadian Prime Minister in over 19 years. 19 years!! Way to go Justin and Sophie!!
