The Lore of the Loonie continues…
I just read something really cool!
Loonies have been stashed in the sand on the beach at the volleyball court, in the rowing waters at the Lagoa, and even under the 18th hole green at the Olympic golf course.
But why?
Paul Bowes, one of the coaches of the men’s wheelchair basketball team, said it has become a Canadian tradition.
“It’s just part of Canadiana in my opinion,” he told CBC News. “I just think the lore of the looney has been kept alive by, you know, teams that want to get creative. It’s a fun thing to do.”
It’s a creative way to bring Good Luck!
How cool?

Today is a Shopper’s Drug Mart Gala Day! They have them periodically…Mother’s Day, Christmas time…and today. I have never attended one before BUT since my dear sweet daughter is a makeup artist there and since this particular gala she is in charge of ( the manager is on vacay) I decided to go for support, and also to get a BOLD NEW look!

I have always worn make up, nothing new BUT I don’t always wear bold eye makeup. I thought I would purchase something darker than normal and get Laura to give me a quickie makeover lol.

And there are even treat bags!! How cool 😀

LOTS of fun!!! I sure hope David like my bold new eyes!!

PS~ Oh and I won a basket!!! Haha, Laura called this afternoon to come and pick up a gift basket that I was one of 3 winners!! Yay!!!

We haven’t had rain for weeks…

and we desperately NEED it!!
I can’t ever remember a time when Environment Canada issued a special statement like this for Lunenburg County…

It doesn’t surprise me though. For the last few nights since the fires have been burning, when I let my dog out to pee in the middle of the night, I smell smoke. Not real strong but enough to know it’s there and remind me of what’s happening to some of our province’s beautiful woodland not far away.
When we lived in China we were used to these advisories from the consulate. Gee, the air in China is not great the best of times, BUT you can always seem to smell pollution in the air there. BUT here in Canada, in Nova Scotia, land of clear blue skies and fresh salt air, you just don’t expect advisories like this or smell smoke when you are outside.
Still praying for rain….maybe this weekend.
Everyone loves a nice hot summer!! It means lots of quality time spent at the lake or beach or backyard pool…or in my case my kiddie pool ( hey, don’t laugh, it’s great on these hot days) That’s what memories of great summers ( and golden tans ) are made of right?

Well, this summer’s forecast was one of the hottest and driest on record and it didn’t start that way back in early June BUT…boy was the predictions right! WE are having the HOTTEST, DRIEST summer in 40 years! So dry that is, that it has sparked many fires, BIG fires, and has closed local trails in the province!

Not a pretty sight for some of our province’s beautiful forests!

WE DESPERATELY NEED RAIN!!!!!!
But unfortunately there is no significant amount in the forecast. We might get a little this weekend.
PRAY FOR RAIN!!
Seems like a great day for some change!

So…believe it or not I like change (even though I like tradition) I know it’s still summer and a whole month away from school startup and the time of year when most people like to change some things BUT I also like to do things a little bit different and I kind of need a significant date to go by if I am to remember when I did something.
So this post is mostly for me…
You probably won’t see anything for change on my blog, I’m not needing to change that right now, except that I may not post every single day…we’ll see. I may share with you some of my changes…personal goals, around the house, day to day routine, etc… I just NEED to switch some things up a bit and maybe by me saying this it will inspire you to make those changes you have been wanting to make or do something out of the ordinary.
For me…today 8/8/16 seems like a very good day for switchin’ things up and some change!!!
Wishing you a great week friends!

Seats are sold out for cruises this season, BUT We just had to have a tour!

Here are a few pics from the summer of 2016 as she’s out and about. A few of the pics are mine ***but most are favourites other wonderful Nova Scotia photographers have captured. I just had to share…

Such a beauty!
My day has been full of Olympics watching, and a wedding… reception a little later and more Olympic watching when we get home. A wonderful summer Saturday I think.

So…This picture popped up on my newsfeed and got me thinking…

YES, how true it is!!! The Favelas are just a stone’s throw from where the various Olympic venues are.
My Thoughts are in Brasil!

Ahhh…Rio! Watching the Opening Ceremony at the Maracana and all the Brazil commercials for Rio 2016, all the familiar places where we went makes me REALLY miss Brazil, and even sort of makes me wish we were still living there…sort of.

I’m really looking forward to watching the various events over the next few weeks. Let the games begin!
