1/3 of the way there… Congrats James! 🎓

Our youngest son, James, loves to learn new things, he loves challenges and he is ambitious! He already has a Bachelor of Theology, but decided he wanted something more! So…

last year he went back to school!

Here’s his thought… He wanted to live at home and do two years of Business at NSCC, and then two years at a University in the province. The first stage is complete today! James graduates from NSCC Lunenburg with Diploma with Honours in Business Administration-Accounting.

Here are a few pictures from NSCC Convocation today

And if all goes as planned in a couple years he will graduate with the Commerce degree from SMU… and THEN it will be Stage 3… two more years after that… to his goal of being a Chartered Professional Accountant!!  In the meantime, he is learning a lot working for the Municipality of Queens in the Finance Department. Congratulations James!! We are very proud of you!

I could be convinced to get a CAN AM

David shakes his head and laughs at me!

Yesterday when we were at Andrew & Kristina’s house they said I should take their CAN AM for a drive. I laughed because I don’t drive a standard  ( but is not a standard) and also because that’s their expensive little toy and they want to let me drive it? haha… They said it’s easy, take it!

So…

IMG_2223 IMG_2224 IMG_2225 IMG_2226 IMG_2227 IMG_2228 IMG_2229

I did!!!! And I loved it! And it goes REALLY fast! lol

So whenever David decides that he needs a change from his Honda Fury…maybe then it will be time to get a CAN AM. I could be convinced, But then I guess I could always ask Andrew if I can drive his 😛

Goode Times!

It’s a rainy Monday. Nice for downtime and so wonderful since we haven’t had to water our new grass or plants. Everything is looking so beautiful and lush and green because of the rain. Have a great week!

Pool Party

Who would have thought 15 years later we would be doing the very same thing? It may be a different place and different people but the procedure is still the same. 15 years ago it was our pool in Pleasantville for our kids. ( I dug these oldies out to see what we did. The kids were so little) Andrew was there every step of the way…

DSC01101 DSC01020I think Andrew enjoyed it so much that he decided to do the same at his and Kristina’s home. It’s NOT Pleasantville BUT it’s Pleasant River. 😀

Today is “Putting Up A Pool” Party! And you’re invited. lol

Pool is up!!! Now to get it filtered and clean and the deck built. And…they’ll be swimming in no time!!!

I know you guys will have so much fun with your pool Andrew & Kristina especially when you get off night shifts this summer and can go for a refreshing dip 😛

Final Episode! What will my mornings be like?

Wow! This came as a shocker! Earlier this week I posted about Canada AM being “Live” in Lunenburg for Jeff Hucheson’s last remote broadcast before his retirement. Well, yesterday it was announced that today, June 3, is Canada AM’s LAST broadcast!! The show has been cancelled after 43 seasons! Wow!!! What a shock!

When I think back about Canada AM, I think of Norm Perry. Do you remember this face?

Norm Perry

Jeff Hucheson will start his retirement as planned and Marci Ien and Beverly Thomson will stay will Bell Media.

A mid week escape

Just what I needed! A mid week adventure with a friend! Yesterday, we went to Chester  and browsed some shops, had lunch at a great little cafe, and then a sweet treat in Mahone Bay on the way home. Lots of stories and laughs…so much fun ALWAYS!

The MONTH of June

It’s June! The first month of the summer season!

The weather is getting warmer (hopefully) and the sun is shining almost every day ( it sure is today) … it’s time to celebrate June!

The month of June includes a couple of interesting customs. The first is the custom of marriage. Ever heard the term “June bride”? It refers to the fact more people get married in June than any other month. Contrary to popular belief, this tradition did NOT come about because of the dependable weather. Actually, there are a number of interesting reasons J-U-N-E spells “marriage.”

Some classical scholars believe the month of June is actually named after Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage. Fast-forward a few centuries and you’ll find another good reason to marry in June: according to one old wives’ tale, “Marry in the month of May, and you’ll surely rue the day. Marry when June roses grow, over land and sea you’ll go.” haha it’s funny to look at these old stories.

We actually have a wedding this first weekend in June to attend, our sweet niece is getting married and we’re looking forward to celebrating their special day.

HOWEVER,  JUNE in the Maritimes  means “June Bug Month”

I have friends that DETEST these critters! They don’t bother me…I have actually eaten things similar to this in China at the night market. They aren’t too bad…seriously!

June is here…let summer begin!

Sautéed June bugs anyone? haha

Here’s to the beginning of the summer months!

“LIVE” in Lunenburg

Canada Am is LIVE in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia this morning!

This letter was sent out by Tourism Nova Scotia

How cool is that?

Jeff Hutcheson, sports and weather anchor for the CTV morning show for the past 18 years announced his retirement earlier this month. Known as the “king of the remote broadcast “, Hutcheson is hitting the road for his final cross-Canada tour and has chosen Lunenburg for his last stop.

So, I debated …”Do I go, or do I stay?” Go in to Lunenburg? It’s only 20 minutes from my home. It would be so much fun to see this broadcast LIVE. OR…do I stay at home and watch it with my favourite coffee in hand like I do every morning. Canada Am is actually part of my morning routine. Hmm?

I actually decided to stay home, just because I knew it would be a cool broadcast and I didn’t want to miss it. You know how watching something live works? You go just for the fun and experience of it all but you don’t actually really see the show.

So…Here are a few pics from home lol

Cool…I see Colin in the crowd!IMG_7330

As much as I would LOVE to be in Lunenburg for this, I know I am seeing more at home in front of my TV. Excuse the fuzzy pics!!! Better if I was there in person. 😛IMG_7342 IMG_7339 IMG_7341 IMG_7344 IMG_7346 IMG_7348 IMG_7351

Hey, it’s our friend Adam Bower from The Grand Banker and one of the Banker chef’s cooking up “The Lunenburger” ( I actually saw Adam’s Mom Marlene and wife Cristina in the crowd too) So cool!!

IMG_7369It was such a great broadcast!!  A perfect job promoting touristy Lunenburg and area.

Jeff Hutcheson from Canada AM with Lunenburg Mayor Rachel Bailey

Thank you Jeff for choosing Lunenburg as your last remote broadcast before you retire!

And that’s a wrap for the Month of May! 😀

I still remember …

A friend posted a picture on her Facebook page last night and immediately it took me back a few years… maybe 40 years …

…back to when I was a kid and would spent hours walking in the woods with my Dad or help him cut wood and keep his land trimmed from all the undergrowth. That was back in the day when my younger sister and I would spend many weekends with him on his acres of woodland while Mom worked. I didn’t do too much work, I was too little, but I had fun making Barbie doll houses out of moss ( yes I took my Barbies everywhere) and picking mayflowers and trilliums and lady slippers. I actually closed my eyes and could remember the woods road and trails, and which path went to what place and the places we got stuck or that were really mossy…even the places we made little forts. That was so long ago!  Dad sold his woodland a few years back. He had only girls, and girls wouldn’t want woodland…lol

So when my friend posted this picture of the Lady Slippers growing in her wooded area garden…I remembered these special moments in time!

And a few more pictures of Lady Slippers in her garden. Aren’t they just perfect!

I guess that’s why I love orchids so much and they are one of my favs.
