Memories

A lot of people don’t care for social media. It definitely has its pros and cons. One of the good things is that you can look back…a year ago, 2 years ago, 5 years ago… I love this feature. It’s also one of the reasons I blog. Blogging is like a journal, a diary, pictures are worth so much when you can look back and remember special times and events that might otherwise be forgotten in your current daily activities and responsibilities.

This week there are lots of pictures andย posts ย coming up from a year ago… posts that make me wish I was right back there!

Last year at this time I was in China! Walking on the great wall, eating delicious authentic Chinese food, spending quality time with my sister in law and my niece, walking familiar paths, visiting Chinese friends… ahhh….

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.

  1. That is the exact same reason why I love having a blog! It acts as a little diary of my travels (slightly tailored so the posts aren’t AS personal – but I have a travel diary for those experiences to be written down! ๐Ÿ™‚ ) your pictures from China look gorgeous ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks!! So many times I’ve referred to a blog post to settle a discussion with my husband of something we did or experienced. And of course because it is written down and with pictures, I remember clearly! I love photographing places in China and also look forward to going back there!

  2. Thank you for sharing this amazing trip!!! I have never been to China, but it is one of my dreams to go to the Great Wall and eat authentic Chinese food in the country. It looks like you certainly made the most of your time there! Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Oh Mackenzie…if you ever get chance to go to China or any Asian countries…Go! I used to live in China. My husband was on expat assignment with his company so we were very fortunate to not only visit many places in China and Asia but actually live there and experience the culture. I fell in love with China. Northeast China to be exact. I would go back in a heartbeat!!! That is why any chance I get I go back. Last year’s trip I went because my niece is teaching English in Xiamen city and it was the first time her mother would go. I went sort of as a “tour guide” but mainly because it was an opportunity to go back…to see a new Chinese city and also go to my old city and visit Chinese friends. I have seen and walked on many different sections of the great wall and eaten different kinds of “authentic” food. Things most tourists won’t touch. Haha As you can see…it is one of my favourite places!! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Wow- that experience sounds incredible. You truly have inspired me! I will make a point to travel there at some point during my life for sure now (God willing!). My sister actually taught there as well for a while and loved it. I should see if she would be up for planning a trip back because I know she would be so up for being a bit of a tour guide too! I’m getting so excited… I need to make it happen. Thanks for taking the time to respond ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a wonderful rest of the week!!!!
