Our 30th Anniversary Across CANADA Road Trip!

After all the planning…It’s here and I am so excited!!!! 3 weeks of FUN and ADVENTURE with my sweetie traveling across our beautiful country.

Originally, we hoped to have enough time to do it all by car BUTΒ with only 3 weeks we will driving and flying and renting a car. Either way it will be fun! We will see some places we saw 29 years ago, and make some new memories, as well as stop at some places we have been wanting to see for a long time.

Itinerary is planned, suitcases are packed, and after a good night’s sleep tonight….OFF we go bright and EARLY in the morning!!!!!

30th Anniversary Road Trip

Planes, Trains, Automobiles, Ferries…it’s gonna be a FUN Adventure!

Adventure Awaits…

I picked up a copy of the 2016 Nova Scotia “Doers & Dreamers” book as well as the Culinary Guide.

What areΒ Privateer Days?

Privateers were privately owned ships that were authorized by government to raid ships from other countries – “a form of legalized piracy on the high seas” The men who served aboard these ships were also referred to as “privateers.”Β After the American Revolution, American privateer ships ranged up and down Nova Scotia’s South Shore, ambushing merchant shipments, disrupting commerce, and occasionally stealing ships right out of Liverpool’s wharves. Desperate to defend their homes, their families, and their livelihoods, many leading citizens of the Town of Liverpool petitioned the British government for the right to retaliate against these ocean raiders. In 1777, these citizens were granted authorization to launch privateer ships of their own.Β Liverpool quickly emerged as one of British North America’s leading privateer ports, eventually deploying more privateer vessels than even the much larger city of Halifax.Β Although privateers no longer roam the seas, and the day of the great sailing ships has passed, Liverpool’s significance in maritime history lives on in the town’s nickname to this day:Β PORT OF THE PRIVATEERS.

Privateer Days is the Annual Festival in Liverpool to celebrate and remember this colourful privateer heritage.

It was fun to watch this small reenactment along the waterfront with a gun salute and cannonball fired!IMG_8167 IMG_8169 IMG_8170 IMG_8171 IMG_8172 IMG_8175 IMG_8177

PERFECT evening for a ride

It’s been a fabulous week of weather for our first week of summer But a busy week of work for my sweetie. He works so hard and at the end of a busy week it’s so nice to go for a ride on his bike. We have some very picturesque places in Nova Scotia. Tonight’s ride took him to Lunenburg.

There’s a NEW truck in town!

Food truck that is! The Best Little Oarhouse in Nova Scotia.

This is opening week for this new place and we’ve been wanting to check it out!

OnΒ a nice evening it’s just a nice little walk to get there, but it’s been so cool and windy that James & I decided that we were just gonna drive down and bring our food home.

There was little bit of a wait, after all it’s opening week. BUT, it was so worth it. The food is delicious! James had the Dude Burger and of course I had to try the fish & chips. Β Delicious home cut fries and a light batter…so good!
