The last day of April

What a beautiful weekend! I am so thankful.

Colourful visitors

So I put my bird feeders up this week because I was hearing and seeing lots of birds in my backyard garden and today I had so many colourful visitors. MORE than pictures can really capture.

Here are a few of my favourites of the little yellow finches.

Tomorrow looks like it’s gonna be a beautiful day. Time to get back in the garden!

Sunny Monday ☀

It’s a sunny warm Monday here in Nova Scotia. A PERFECT way to start the week.

I had a few colourful visitors this morning ( did’t get my camera quick enough) telling me it was time to fill up my bird feeders. I love watching these little feathered visitors in the morning and Abby gets excited about the word “birds” . So first thing on my list…put seed in the feeders ✔

This weather gets me thinking about summer and before you know it, it will be vacay time! David has time off in May, June, July & September this year ( for summertime vacation) Yay!!!!! Even though we don’t have any big travel plans this year…it’s a “stay at home” “enjoy our own province” kinda year…I’m planning, oh yes I am! 😂 May vacation will be mainly yard work. I’ve got his “work order” started. June and July we will relax at home and do some day trips and exploring.

I will give you a sneak peak at one little “getaway” I am planning. We are going to spend a couple of nights here in July.

What do ya think? I can’t wait!!

There’s no time like the present to start getting things on my list! ✍

Ahhh…Spring. April. and Blossoms.

My Chinese friends know all too well that it is my favourite time of year and they also know me well enough that even after leaving Shenyang almost 3 years ago ( wow it’s been that long) that I still miss and long for the April days of walking in “my” park when all the blossoms are peak!

So, Sunday was a gorgeous blue sky day in Shenyang and they went to “my” park just to take pictures especially for me!

Ahhh…how I wish I was walking here today…

It’s Burger Week in Halifax!

WHAT’S BURGER WEEK ALL ABOUT YOU ASK?

Halifax’s Annual Burger Week is a city wide burger-eating celebration and fundraiser for Feed Nova Scotia. This year, over 95 restaurants will create unique burger specials for one week only, March 23-29th. Burgers will be either have a set price of $6 OR a higher price with a portion being donated by the restaurant to Feed Nova Scotia. Halifax Burger Week was started in 2013 by Coast Publishing, publisher of The Coast and Food and Drink City Guides.

So…because we are in the city today to do a few errands…

Oh ya, we just HAD to have BURGERS!!!! How to choose? The menu of burgers is so mouth watering…oh yum!!!

But alas, we are only having one…

The Fickle Frog Pub sounded fun and their burger sounded delish!

Introducing the Dribble Drool Burger.

A rustic bun, a 6oz homestyle all beef patty, dijonnaise sauce, guacamole, fresh jalapeños, topped with lettuce, tomato and a dill pickle…a little spicy with a little sweet ❤

And David added a side of home cut fries to his burger…

All I can say is, It’s a good thing I don’t live in the city!!!

Oh how I miss…

blossoms in the Spring!!!!

It is so lovely sitting in my living room this afternoon. It truly feels like Spring until you see the snow outside… BUT I do know that the sun is melting it quickly.

Springtime is my absolute FAVOURITE of all seasons!! But, then as each season rolls around I probably say that about each one BUT TRULY, Springtime is a season of freshness and newness of life. Babies are being born,

…buds are opening up and ohhhh…the blossoms! The pink blossoms of fruit trees! I absolutely LOVE this time of year.

PLEASE!!! I want to hop on a plane and head to Vancouver, Washington, DC or Beijing!!!! There are pictures popping up on my newsfeed and memories of a Shenyang Spring walking in the park.
