Daddy
I love my Daddy and I love my Father-in-Law. I am so blessed to have these two wonderful men in my life that have been such wonderful examples for my husband. My husband…I love him so much, He is an amazing Father who does so much for all our children.
Today is the day to celebrate these special men!

Beautiful Saturday…finally!!
What a beauty of a day along the South Shore! We had to get out and enjoy it. It helped that we had friends visiting from New Brunswick that used to live here 27 years ago!
Our friends had a great day seeing some familiar spots and we had fun being tour guides.
First Taste
The middle of June and that means the early berries are ready!

So I had to whip up a batch of biscuits.

There’s a NEW truck in town!
Food truck that is! The Best Little Oarhouse in Nova Scotia.
This is opening week for this new place and we’ve been wanting to check it out!
On a nice evening it’s just a nice little walk to get there, but it’s been so cool and windy that James & I decided that we were just gonna drive down and bring our food home.
There was little bit of a wait, after all it’s opening week. BUT, it was so worth it. The food is delicious! James had the Dude Burger and of course I had to try the fish & chips. Delicious home cut fries and a light batter…so good!

PLEASE warm up!!!
BRRR!!!! I have been freezing for days! This is certainly not June weather and with the “official day” of summer around the corner temperatures have been at least 10 degrees below normal. June evenings are usually wonderful for being outside BUT all I feel like doing is curling up with a blanket.
David and I did go to the beach yesterday afternoon, BUT it is far from beach weather. Gee, I remember “skipping “school and heading to the beach to swim and tan “back in the day” …. Where is our summer weather? Please warm up soon!!!
The beach was beautiful as usual…it ALWAYS is…BUT it’s not SUMMER TIME beach weather!

I totally forgot I had this little package in my cupboard when I was looking for something to make for dinner last night.
YUM!!!! Black Fungus! James’ favorite…NOT! But I love it and since he was away for dinner…I knew it would be the perfect addition to my simple stir fry, especially since I didn’t have regular mushrooms.
You just add water…
And it grows

And is ready to use in your favourite dish. I love it in stir fry. I really like the texture.

Unexpected
A nice surprise knocked on my door this morning.
A friend that knows I love to bake and knows I love rhubarb dropped off some just freshly picked!
Guess what I did this afternoon?

Building a deck and quality time in the backyard
A beautiful Saturday and what are we doing? My sweet husband is helping our son build a deck around the pool we put up last Sunday. He loves that we are home and can help the kids with projects and this year we don’t have a lot of projects of our own. We have some, but they can wait.
And me…I am just enjoying this nice day in our backyard. I could have gone to help with the deck, BUT some times it’s nice to have a Saturday just to do a couple chores and then relax in the nice space that we are creating in our backyard. After all, what is the purpose if you don’t enjoy it, right? Besides, I still have this nasty cold. 😦
