ENJOY your long weekend!!! 🍁🍂
I live in a small town on the east coast of Canada. Bridgewater is on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Bridgewater is surrounded by interesting communities and special places, I think so anyway. I never get tired of exploring. All through the year there are special events, suppers, auctions, festivals, markets, and just fun things to attend…community things. Things that bring people closer.
Next week we have some time to explore and we plan to do some fun day trips. But what I really enjoy is being able to drive just 15-20 minutes to enjoy some of these great things.
Like… the “Annual Visitors” that come to Mahone Bay this time of year

Or a stop in Lunenburg for a quick walk along the waterfront and to get a treat one last time before this sweet shop closes for the season

And a home cooked meal at a local firehall in the community where we used to live and chance to catch up with some old friends

This is community and some of the many things we enjoy.
Have a great day!

Every year in the fall, a local farm gets REALLY creative with a bit of their season’s squash harvest.

I enjoy a trip to the market to see what the newest creations are. This year’s Squash art!

For the past two weeks we watched along with the rest of the world, the BEST of the BEST, the world’s greatest athletes compete in Rio. Nova Scotia had some wonderful athletes on the Canadian team. With great pride we congratulate them on their achievements.

Tonight, one last event that brings the world just a little bit closer together, It is the closing of the 2016 Olympics in Rio. And in Rio Carnaval style…a HUGE party and celebration! It was spectacular.

The rest are NOT my pictures but some of my favourites from the night. And to be honest, watching the Olympics made me realize how fortunate I was to have lived in this place for 14 months and to visit the many famous landmarks numerous times. It actually made me miss Brazil and Rio ( which I said never would) lol

Looking forward to 2020 and what Tokyo will bring!

Today is a Shopper’s Drug Mart Gala Day! They have them periodically…Mother’s Day, Christmas time…and today. I have never attended one before BUT since my dear sweet daughter is a makeup artist there and since this particular gala she is in charge of ( the manager is on vacay) I decided to go for support, and also to get a BOLD NEW look!

I have always worn make up, nothing new BUT I don’t always wear bold eye makeup. I thought I would purchase something darker than normal and get Laura to give me a quickie makeover lol.

And there are even treat bags!! How cool 😀

LOTS of fun!!! I sure hope David like my bold new eyes!!

PS~ Oh and I won a basket!!! Haha, Laura called this afternoon to come and pick up a gift basket that I was one of 3 winners!! Yay!!!

Ahhh…Rio! Watching the Opening Ceremony at the Maracana and all the Brazil commercials for Rio 2016, all the familiar places where we went makes me REALLY miss Brazil, and even sort of makes me wish we were still living there…sort of.

I’m really looking forward to watching the various events over the next few weeks. Let the games begin!

Starting today and for the next few weeks I will be hard pressed to get anything done…:P
Olympics in Rio start TODAY with Women’s Soccer!

Two games I want to see this afternoon!!! Canada vs. Australia AND Brazil vs. China.

Rio 2016 officially starts on Friday with the Opening ceremonies. I really want to see some of the events. After all, while we were living in Brazil there were preparations being made for 2016.

So…I guess I better plan my days a little different so I can get my things accomplished around the house plus have some TV time!

What is Natal Day?
This is what Wikipedia says…
Natal Day in Canada. People of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia hold “birthday” parties for their province on the first Monday of August. Huge birthday cakes are prepared and distributed. Other events include communal meals, parades, sporting activities and firework displays.
Ok…so I don’t know about the huge Birthday cake part BUT I know Nova Scotia’s truly love a long weekend and fireworks. Enjoy your day however you celebrate.
Happy Natal Day Nova Scotia!

Today is a quiet Canada Day celebration in our home. This year a little different because of my husband’s crazy work schedule. But that’s ok. Yes, I could have joined the GOODE fam in the city for holiday celebrations, but where would that leave my hard working husband when he had just a few hours at home. I didn’t want him to be by himself on the holiday, besides I don’t mind the relax time.
So, we had a few hours to have some treats, wear our patriotic colors ( haha) and spend time together celebrating this great land we live in.

Even Abby wears her red and white for Canada Day!
Take 1 haha ( Abby is bored of the picture thing)
Take 2 (that’s better)
A little road trip…
I love seeing all the Canada flags and red and white on display along the South Shore!

Our little adventure today…Riverport, NS for the Riverport Fire Department Annual Canada Day Fish Fry! I remember doing this I think when we were just dating, or something quite similar.
I ALWAYS get the fish…today I switched it up and had scallops. YUM!!

And then David went to work, and I relaxed by the pool for a bit 😛 haha ( it wasn’t so bad)

I hope you had a wonderful day of fun and fireworks and celebrating this wonderful country we are so blessed to call HOME…Our HOME and Native Land!

Happy Canada Day!

I picked up a copy of the 2016 Nova Scotia “Doers & Dreamers” book as well as the Culinary Guide.
Oh the possibilities & choices….

I love our East Coast province ❤ and I love summertime to explore and see and try new things!
This is such a great picture captured by a local photographer… Catherine Rose Photography.

Enjoy your last day of June!
